Applications

Where Asil Çelik products are used

„On 42CrMo4 shafts over 120 mm we are not reaching the required core hardness after quenching and tempering."

42CrMo4 · 34CrNiMo6 · 41Cr4: vacuum degassing and ESR remelting limit segregation and ensure uniform properties even in large cross-sections, in both rolled and forged form

„Our bearings fail from contact fatigue sooner than they should. We need cleaner 100Cr6."

100Cr6 · 100CrMnSi6-4 · 51CrV4 · 52CrMoV4: low inclusion content and controlled decarburisation; high-volume production (700,000 t/year) for series supply

„Our 1.2344 die-casting moulds crack from thermal fatigue before reaching their planned service life."

1.2343 · 1.2344 · 1.2367 · 1.2083: ESR version for high isotropy, toughness and resistance to thermal fatigue; ingots, continuously cast billets and peeled bars

„Our gears distort beyond the permitted tolerance after case-hardening and quenching."

16MnCr5 · 18CrNiMo7-6 · 20MnCr5: narrow hardenability band for minimal distortion; for corrosion-stressed parts X20Cr13 · X17CrNi16-2

About Asil Çelik

Turkish steel mill and rolling mill Asil Çelik, with an annual capacity of approx. 700,000 tonnes of crude steel, has been producing ingots, continuously cast billets and rolled, forged and peeled bars in structural, carbon, alloy, microalloyed, spring, free-cutting, bearing, tool and martensitic stainless grades since 1979. The main consumer sectors are automotive, power, agricultural and general engineering, tool and die making, the defence industry and other fields. The steel is produced exclusively in electric arc furnaces with vacuum degassing and is then continuously cast, or alternatively poured into ingots. As one of the few producers of long products, Asil Çelik also has tertiary metallurgy (ESR) at its disposal and can therefore offer electroslag-remelted alloy, tool and stainless materials as well.

Steelmaking is followed by two rolling mills: a medium mill with an annual capacity of 450,000 tonnes for round bar 19–100 mm, hexagons 18–80 mm, square bars 50–65 mm and flat bars in the range 8–60 × 60–130 mm, and a large mill with an annual capacity of 250,000 tonnes for round bar 75–300 mm and square bars (RCS) 50–245 mm. At the customer's request, rolling can be followed by various types of heat treatment (normalising, soft / spheroidising annealing, stress-relief annealing, quenching and tempering), finishing operations such as shot blasting or grinding, and also automatic inspection tests for surface defects or ultrasonic testing.

Asil Çelik also produces forged products: round bars in the range 200–800 mm or squares 200×200 – 800×800 mm (forged blocks, discs and roll blanks also on request). It also supplies peeled bars with an h9 tolerance in the range 20–100 mm.

Approximately one third of Asil Çelik's production goes to export, with Germany being the most important foreign market (approx. 60% of exports). Customers include renowned companies such as Bosch Diesel Systems, Bosch Rexroth, CAF, Caterpillar, Daimler, Delphi Diesel Systems, Federal Mogul, FIAT, Ford, MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Scania, Schaeffler, Volvo and ZF.
